Cocktail Party and LIVE
Performance |
|
Illusions is a new, high-end bar
and lounge in Federal Hill.
Illusions brings something
special and interesting to
Baltimore: a magic theme and a
classy establishment. Come for
some drinks and see some
magic...
Cocktail party mix & mingle
followed by an extraordinary
performance by Spencer Horsman -
magician, illusionist and
ventriloquist.
During our cocktail party,
Spencer will roam the room,
entertaining us with slight of
hand and other magic followed by
his live act:
escaping from a straight
jacket while suspended
upside-down
and other magic feats that will
amaze you!
Spencer Horsman
Bio: By the age of 15
Spencer had already appeared on
The Late Show With David
Letterman, The Jerry
Springer Show, and
CNN and performed with
David Copperfield in Las
Vegas--to say nothing of
countless newspaper and radio
features. On May 11, Spencer,
who is now 23, faced a death
defying challenge
escaping from two straitjackets
while suspended 50 feet in
mid-air.

July 13
|
|
|

Sonar 23
(9 in
fleet)
The Sonar is a 23 ft fixed keel sloop
with a large cockpit that easily fits 6
sailors. She's fast and very responsive
to the helm which makes her the ideal
trainer and racer. |
Social Sail ...with Instruction
What does this mean?
The sail will begin at 6:00 pm
and last until sunset. We'll
sail on Getaway's
Sonars
(23' sloop).
A Sonar has
an 11 foot cockpit and can
comfortably hold five passengers
plus a skipper.
There are
nine Sonars available, so we can
only accept up to 45 people for
this event. The skippers will
provide instruction
or you can just sit back, relax
and enjoy yourself!
Following the sail, we can head
across the street to The Austin
Grill for LIVE music, drinks and
great food!
(drinks & food not included in
the price)

FRIDAY, July
13
- Sail begins at 6:00 -
please don't be late
- Instruction included
-
Location:
Getaway Sailing Club, Boston Street, Baltimore/Canton
Directions
-
Dress:
Casual. No Black soled shoes or high heels...boat shoes,
sneakers, flip-flops are preferred. Bring a light jacket.
- Cost: $25
- ***NOTE: Event will be
rescheduled if Getaway Sailing cancels the sail due to
inclement weather
Q: What
are the qualifications of the skipper?
A:
The skipper is a US
Coast Guard licensed captain. Other
qualifications: first aid/ CPR and life
guarding.
Q: What
about sea sickness?
A:
Mild cases of sea sickness can be
overcome and usually last only a short
time. Also, lots of fresh air and
looking out at the horizon are good
cures for mild cases of seasickness.
Personally, I always take one non-drowsy
Dramamine one-hour prior to sailing and
it works great for me. |

What is a Nitro Pour?
A slow-pour is also referred to as a
nitrogen (nitro) beer. This beer is
dispensed using a combination of nitrogen
(N2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) rather than
just CO2 alone like our other house beers.
The style of beer currently on “nitro”
changes on a regular basis. What does
nitrogen do to a beer? It gives the beer a
creamier head and silky mouthfeel.
What is a Firkin?
A firkin is actually the name of an 11
gallon keg that holds cask conditioned ale
(real ale). There are 3 main differences
between real ale and conventionally
dispensed ale. First, real ale is served
unfiltered whereas the yeast in
conventionally served ale has been filtered
out to give it a "clear" appearance. Second,
real ale is served at "cellar" temperature
(50-55°F) unlike conventional ale which is
served cooler. Finally, real ale is lightly
carbonated so it almost appears "flat"
compared to a conventional ale. There are
approximately 85 pours for each firkin so
don't miss out. |
