April 17th
Our first stop in San Francisco will be at the newly renovated
Sheraton, located at famous Fisherman’s Wharf. At 4:00, we’ll
experience San Francisco in a new way on board the U.S Coast
Guard inspected DUKW, an original, refurbished WWII amphibious
landing craft. For 90 minutes the captain will take US on a
wacky journey through the following neighborhoods:
Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, North Beach-
Little Italy, South Beach, Union Square, SOMA -South of Market
and China Basin. Just when we think the best is over, we’’l
drive into the San Francisco Bay for a relaxing cruise on the
water. Get the cameras ready to catch a spectacular view of the
city skyline and the Bay Bridge from the water! Reservations
will be made at The Waterfront Restaurant noted for an expansive
seafood selection and gorgeous bay views. Finally, we’ll turn
down the covers and climb into the “sweet sleeper bed” and dream
about what lies ahead.
April 18th-
After breakfast, we’ll board a bus and head through Marina and
Presidiio across the Golden Gate Bridge . From this point ,
there are spectacular views of San Francisco and Marin
Headlands. The tour continues north before winding along
picturesque Highway 1 to Muir Woods. This 550- acre National
Monument is home to Coastal Redwoods, some of the tallest and
oldest trees in the world. You will receive a map and guide to
the park showing various trails for a self-guided tour.
Visitors are encouraged to walk along the paved main trail that
offers educational exhibits on the majestic redwoods---some
known to be 1,000 years old. The park is home to 50 species of
birds, black-tailed deer, steelhead trout, and hundreds of other
wild inhabitants. There is a small café, abookstore, and a gift
shp there, too. The tour spends approximately one hour at Muir
Woods. From the redwoods, the tour heads back along the coastal
road to Sausalito, where we’ll stop for approximately 45 minutes
to enjoy the bay views, shopping, galleries, and mansions.
Sausalito is home to some of the country’s wealthiest citizens,
and the views of Alcatraz Island, Angel Island, the Golden Gate
Bridge, the Bay Bridge, and the San Francisco skyline are
breathtaking. Upon our return to San Francisco, we’ll have some
leisure time to explore and eat lunch before the limo comes to
transport US to Sonoma. We’ll check into the hotel and spend
time relaxing. We’ll enjoy dining in a nearby restaurant.
April 19th-
After the continental breakfast at the hotel and some leisure
time, we’ll spend about five hours being transported in a limo
to the various wineries participating in the the Carneros
Festival. You’ll receive a glass that is your entrance ticket
into each winery, and we’ll sample the fruit of the vine. After
a fun day, we’ll return to the hotel and the remainder of the
time is unstructured. The luggage needs to be ready to check
out the next morning.
April 20th-
After the continental breakfast the limo will whisk US to the
Napa Valley, where we’ll sample the best of four wineries before
heading back to spend the night at the Sheraton Fisherman’s
Wharf. We may elect to dine together, and reservations will be
made a a nearby restaurant.
